Thank you for your devotion to equality. Your portrayal is discomforting but necessary. James Baldwin left us with a way of thinking and being in the world. He prescribed constant self-examination and brutal honesty in our relationships with others, and insisted that each of us has the capacity to make life a little more human. We must work at this every day and every hour. This is the closing comment from our nephew’s book. It is my original thinking but his and Baldwin’s words. God bless you and your work.
